"The quality and beauty of my works lie in the hidden details, in the surprising views, in the play of light and shadow, and in the integration of landscape, garden and interior into a gesamtkunstwerk, an integrated and holistic masterpiece of architecture."
Stephan Maria Lang
Shingle residence in tune with nature
The plastic beauty of the building is architecturally designed in perfect harmony with the natural splendor of its surroundings and the needs of a patchwork family of 5 Kids.
Raw materials, very fine detailed absorb the light filtered by big trees.
It was more than an aesthetic exercise, it was a spiritual retreat, a place to cleanse body and soul.
The project was an attempt to create something powerful without being loud, with various connections to the nature and views.
Is all about light; you don’t have to be religious to feel the spiritual aspect of light.
For a big family with 4 Kids and a dog the client wished a classic modern residence in Munich suburbia.
Californian easy living at lake Starnberg
On a sloping site oriented to the morning sun the house is hovering with its widely levitating roof anchored to the ground by 3 stone clad rocky volumes.
The dream of the owners was to build a house onto the narrow lake site which has a close connection to nature combined with a Japanese atmosphere. The Japanese culture reflects a feeling of sophistication, perfection in detailing, open flowing spaces and the accommodation of changing seasons.
